A GREAT AMBITION WITH MULTIPLE OBJECTIVES
At the beginning of the 2000s, at the end of a professional life focused on international achievements in the water professions, a vital area for improving living conditions of all types of populations, I decided to invest in projects that meet multiple objectives: climate, development, improvement of the living conditions of women, etc.

It is in this context that in 2007 I created a company in Mali meeting these criteria:
-
Plant trees to improve the soil, sequester carbon and produce fruits whose processing will allow the creation of local activities.
-
Leave planting choices and tree ownership to interested farmers.
-
Take advantage of the shade of trees and their regenerative properties of the soil to promote the peasant planting of soybeans, the subsequent processing of which allows numerous activities.
-
Bringing work to women who will thus be able to better respond to the immense difficulties of local life in small farming communities.
-
Try, thanks to these actions, to promote less difficult village living conditions by providing work to the populations and reducing their latent desire to emigrate to Europe.
The company JMI of which I am the founder and main shareholder associated with quality Malian partners has been present in Kita in southern Mali for 15 years and can display the following results:
-
Planting of 6 million trees and regrouping hundreds of cooperatives having planted 20 million trees.
-
Development ex nihilo of a soya sector complementary to the dominant cotton sector in Mali. 14,000 hectares of soybeans were planted in 2023.
-
Invest and manage a soy crushing plant that buys soybeans from producers and produces meal for animal feed and soybean oil for human consumption.
-
Provide seasonal work to 40,000 women who harvest cashew fruits (raw material for cashew nuts) and soybeans
-
Thus giving women the means to finance the education of their children and in particular girls who often have great difficulty controlling their future.
It is in this context that the contributions of European companies within the framework of volunteering or their policy of "social and environmental responsibility" will be able to accelerate JMI's development strategy with the objectives of continuing to plant 500,000 trees per year. year, to increase the land sown with soya to reach 50,000 hectares and provide income for 100,000 women in 2030.
